An incredible full day private tour to Argolis

Your personal driver will pick you up from the hotel (see pickups note) in order to start this wonderful tour to the Unesco world heritage site of Epidaurus, Mycenae, and the port town of Nafplion.

The tour will begin with a scenic drive via the coastal road from Athens towards the Corinth Canal. It will take about an hour to get to Corinth were you shall briefly stop to view it before crossing the narrow canal via the bridge which connects mainland Greece to the Peloponnese.

After the brief stop continue towards Mycenae; one of the most important cities of ancient Greece. Walk under the famous Lion gate up to the Mycenaean acropolis and the Palace. You will see the tomb of Agamemnon and the ruins of the Cyclopean walls that protected this mighty city. The site of Mycenae is very impressive and the views from the Palace are awe inspiring.

The tour will continue with a drive through the plains of Argos towards the city of Nafplion. This was the first capital of modern Greece and boasts an impressive Venetian fortress the “Palamidi”. Nafplion is one of the prettiest port towns of Greece with beautiful architecture. Its rich history is evident throughout; walk from the town square to the port and take in the beauty of the town.

Setting off from Nafplion it is a short drive to the site of Epidaurus. But before reaching the site the next stop is lunch! A short drive to a traditional restaurant – selected for you is a lovely menu of local tastes. Enjoy your lunch; take the opportunity to taste regional products and experience original Greek cuisine. Allow your guide to tell you all about the Mediterranean cuisine while you taste the famous Greek salad and locally produced delicacies. The site of Epidaurus, which is listed as a world heritage site by Unesco, is vast. With ruins of temples and hospital buildings devoted to the healing gods; it is considered to be the birthplace of Asklepios. The sites monuments, particularly the temple of Asklepios, the Tholos and the Theatre are considered some of the purest masterpieces of Greek architecture and date from the 4th century BC. For most travelers Epidaurus is known for the magnificent theater that still stands there – and is still used for plays and other performances. Walk the grounds leading up to the theater and there check the famous acoustics. The theater is considered a marvel of engineering as the acoustics are unrivaled even by today’s standards.

This tour is operated every day throughout the year. On national holidays 25&26/Dec, 1/Jan, 25/March, 1/May and Orthodox Easter Sunday an alternative itinerary is operated as sights are closed.

Departure Time

As this is a private tour you can set the time of departure that suits you. We recommend to start the tour at about 09:00 up to 10:00, as this will allow you to see the sights at the best time.
